1. Evolution
In December 2013, the Department of Investment was adjusted from the School of Economics to the School of Finance in order to adapt to the new changes and development of economics and finance and to the needs of further expanding and strengthening finance disciplines and majors. In 2017, it was integrated into the Department of Applied Finance, and the construction point of investment major was retained to carry out the construction of relevant basic teaching organizations. In 2020, in order to comply with the development tide of fintech and the trend of “engineering” in the demand for financial talents, a new investment department was established on the basis of investment major construction point. It enrolls general undergraduate students majoring in Investment from Finance Category. At the same time, it has the right to confer academic master's degree in Investment Economics.
Under the background of New Economics and Management construction of the university, the Investment Department emphasizes on promoting learning and teaching through competition, and optimizes the platform of practical education. It has established and successfully promoted the provincial B discipline competition which is University Students Financial Investment Innovation Competition in Anhui Province, built the school-enterprise cooperation demonstration laboratory which is Economics Interdisciplinary Comprehensive Laboratory, and built the key laboratory of Financial Asset Allocation and Management of the Provincial Education Department.
2. Introdution
The major of Investment was approved in 2006 and enrolled students for the first time in 2007. It is the first one among colleges and universities in Anhui Province. The major can be traced back to the establishment of the junior college investment major in 1992 and was merged into the finance major in 1998. Approved to be established in 2006, it was subordinate to the School of Economics, highlighting the direction of project investment and venture investment. In 2014, the major was integrated into the School of Finance, focusing on talent training for securities investment and quantitative investment. In 2017, CFA investment experimental class was opened, and it conducted professional certification education.
Investment has been established as the characteristic major of Anhui Province, the pilot major of comprehensive professional reform ，the provincial first-class major and the national first-class major, which has formed a certain influence inside and outside the province. It offers academic master’s degree program in Investment. Currently, there are 1014 undergraduate students in this major (including Investment and Investment in CFA direction). The basic length of schooling is 4 years, and the length of schooling can be 3-6 years if relevant conditions are met. In recent five years, the final employment rate has been over 95%, and the rate of postgraduate entrance examination (including studying abroad) has been over 20%.
Under the general requirement of taking the foundation as the foundation and promoting the four regression of the Ministry of Education, based on the orientation of the school and university and according to the overall requirements of Embracing the New Era and Building New Economics and Management, the major of Investment innovates the talent training mode, implements professional standards and conscientiously carries out professional certification to adapts to the increasingly engineering trend of the demand for financial talents by new technologies and new formats in the new era.
The major is committed to cultivating talents who, in the first place, practice socialist core values, adhere to philosophy of moral cultivation and all-round development of morality, intelligence, physical fitness, beauty and labor, and are full of integrity and social responsibility, and who can master professional theoretical knowledge of economics, finance and investment, and skillfully apply modern information technology and relevant professional skills centered on securities investment to meet the requirements of financial institutions, government departments, enterprises and institutions for investment professionals or to engage in teaching and research in teaching and scientific research departments. It also attaches importance to the cultivation of students' innovative spirit and entrepreneurial consciousness, helping them to become high-level application-oriented and compound new investment talents in the new era to meet the needs of economic and social development.
3. Staff
Investment Major has a strong faculty, with 16 full-time teachers, including 1 doctoral supervisor and 9 master supervisors. First, among the full-time teachers, there are 10 doctoral teachers and 2 doctoral candidate, accounting for 75% in total. And all 12 of them are studying for doctoral degrees in other universities, with a reasonable configuration of the teacher structure. Second, there are 4 full professors and 5 associate professors, accounting for 56 in total, and there are 7 lecturers. The professional title structure is reasonable. Third, 3 teachers are over 55 years old, 1 teacher is between 50 and 54 years old, 3 teachers are between 45 and 49 years old, 4 teachers are between 35 and 39 years old, and 5 teachers are under 35 years old, showing a reasonable age structure and a fine tradition of passing on experience from the old to the middle-aged and the young.
